Spell Catcher X 10.2 Upgrade Eligibility
Spell Catcher X 10.2 uses different license codes than previous versions. Your current license code, beginning with "SCX", must be upgraded for use with version 10.2. This is a simple process, and usually takes only a few seconds. Your existing "SCX" license will work with Spell Catcher X 10.2 for 3 weeks and then expire (it will never expire when used with a previous version of Spell Catcher X). Many customers qualify for a free upgrade to version 10.2. For those that do not, you can use your "SCX" license code to purchase an upgrade for $14.95 USD.

If your license code begins with "X102", and you need to update your Spell Catcher X 10.2, 10.2.1 or 10.2.2 installation to version 10.2.3, just visit our Downloads page, get the latest installer, and update your Spell Catcher X installation. This eligibility check is only for those using old (10.0.x or 10.1.x) versions of Spell Catcher X that have a code beginning with "SCX".
Who is Eligible for the Free Upgrade?
- If you purchased Spell Catcher X from us (either directly or from our online store at Kagi) on or after January 1, 2004, you are entitled to a free upgrade to version 10.2 (version 10.1 was released February 10, 2004 - see this FAQ).
- If you purchased the $10 "Buy Now and Save" upgrade to version 10.1, you are also entitled to a free upgrade to version 10.2.
- In general, this means that most "SCX-020" and "SCX-030" codes are eligible. Codes beginning with "SCX-010" are only eligible if they were used to purchase the "Buy Now and Save" upgrade.
Check Your Eligibility
Depending upon how you arrived at this page, your "SCX" license code may already be filled-in. Do a quick double-check to make sure it appears correct.
If the "SCX" License Code below is empty or incorrect, you must locate your current Spell Catcher X license code. It begins with the letters "SCX" followed by 12 digits (ignoring the dashes). If you have Spell Catcher X installed and licensed, you can find your "SCX" license code by switching to the Spell Catcher application, choosing "Licenses..." from the Spell Catcher menu. Your code will be visible in the License Manager window.
If your "SCX" license does not appear in the License Manager window, you can e-mail it to yourself if we have a record for you in our database. We do not have records for all of the "SCX-010" license codes that were issued!
If your license code begins with "SCX-010", it's not a requirement that you have registered your product online with us, or otherwise exist in our customer database. The only requirement is that you have a valid license code, and that your license code hasn't already been used to purchase the upgrade.
